Free standing and mobile cable rewinding machine – MORA 5

mora5 1Scope of application

A series of compact, free-standing and mobile devices, mounted on running wheels equipped with mechanical brakes. The devices are designed to rewind cables and electrical, optical wires or other similar materials from one drum to another with max. weight of 2.5 T, or into the coils by means of a special dismantable coiler. They also allow us to unwind the preset length of cable from drums hung on special racks and stands and wind them onto drums mounted in rewinding machine.

This machine series allow us to work with programmed cable length. The range of devices with a sensor, capable of checking the cable on the measuring wheel – stop automatically the rewinding process when cable runs out prematurely on the unwound reel. Owing to the use of precise and automatic cable laying device, overload protection, optical indication of operation, highly advanced automation control unit with microprocessor system for synchronization of winding and cable laying movements, as well as constant supervision of cable presence in measuring wheel, it is possible to operate the winding machines without constant, direct supervision. The devices are characterized by an easy, intuitive operation and a compact and robust design, making them very durable and reliable. No human effort is needed for handling the device. Workload is significantly reduced and thus health and safety conditions at work are improved.

Construction and principle of operation

A welded structure, made of steel profiles, powder coated. It consists of three main modules: support frame with cable delivery and reception unit, automatic cable laying device and a hydraulic unit. The support frame with cable delivery and reception unit is mounted on running wheels with high bearing capacity, equipped with extendable stabilizing legs, used during operation (MORA 5.1). The frame supports a hydraulic unit (MORA 5.1), hydraulic components driving the delivery and reception unit (electromechanical system for MORA 5.2) and a control cabinet with operating panel. The delivery and reception units are attached to the frame, on the opposite sides. They are made as two-armed claw chucks, with one fixed and one sliding arm, driven hydraulically (MORA 5.1) or electromechanically (MORA 5.2). The drum is clamped axially in the chuck by means of centering claws and lifted up. Cable reel clamping and lifting unit is controlled from the operator panel. The delivery unit is equipped with an electromagnetic service brake for setting the working tension of cable while rewinding, and the main brake, activated after emergency stop of the drive unit. Braking force of the unwound cable reel is set in the operating panel. The reception unit is equipped with an induction electric motor, which transmits drive to the driving claw by means of bevel gear reducer, then by a flexible driver pin to the drum on which cable is wound. The motor is controlled from the operator panel, through a frequency inverter, supported by a microprocessor-based PLC. The frequency inverter provides motor overload protection. Automatic cable laying unit with length measurement is composed of a trolley with guide roller unit and a measuring wheel, moving in parallel to the drum axes on the linear bearings. The cable laying device is driven by an electric stepper motor. The drive is transmitted by means of a high quality toothed belt. The device performs bidirectional, linear movement, within drum width limits programmed with aid of a laser pointer. The motor of laying device is also controlled by microprocessor-based PLC which, besides overload protection, ensures smooth setting of linear speed synchronized with rotational speed of rewound cable, according to its outer diameter. The reel clamping system is equipped with a module that prevents excessive compression of reels in order not to crush them. PLC acts as a counter and a programmer that allows us to set a reference rewinding length. If the unwinding reel is running out of cable, or the rewinding process stops, or the machine is overloaded and fails, then the automation control unit stops the device and indicates visually the operation stop or failure. The applied electrical overload protection, simple and stable mechanical structure, powder coatings and high quality workmanship ensure long-term use in production conditions.
